What to do in Kansas City... KC is easily one of the more underrated cities on the list of places I have wanted to visit! Lets start with some fun facts about the "Heart of America."

✈ Kansas City is the 29th most populated metropolitan in the US. It is home to more than 25 colleges and universities.

✈ Kansas City is both in Missouri and Kansas, however mostly residing in Missouri.

✈ Kansas City has more boulevards than Paris.

The National WWI Museum and Memorial houses the worlds second largest collection of World War 1 artifacts behind Britain's Imperial War Museum.

✈ At least four different U.S. presidents have dined at the original Arthur Bryant's Barbeque.

✈ KC "ignored" Prohibition during the 1920's, which lead to an abundance of jazz clubs, brothels, and gambling halls. It's also been labeled "The Paris of the Plains".

✈ Walt Disney opened his first company for animation, Laugh-O-Gram Studio, in KC where he fed a small rodent that became the inspiration for the famous Mickey Mouse!

✈ Hallmark, the largest greeting card maker in the world, was founded in KC in 1910 when J.C. Hall began selling postcards out of shoeboxes at the local YMCA.

Now lets talk about a weekend in Kansas City!

If you plan to visit Kansas City, here are some of the best ways to spend your weekend.

For KC BBQ, you have Q39 known for their burnt ends, brisket and sandwiches.. specifically the Mr. Burns. Then there is Jack Stack, Slaps and LCs - All phenomenal, there's even a hidden gem inside a gas station called Joe's Kansas City BBQ with over 12,000 online reviews!

I was craving a seafood boil while I was in town and found Krab Kingz - The atmosphere is nothing to write home about but the food is exceptional! I picked up a crab platter to go with extra corn, spicy sausage, and hard boiled eggs!

If you are a coffee & pastry fanatic like me, you will want to check out Messenger Grand (the breakfast, specifically the smothered burrito, looked incredible). I went to Thou Mayest-Nelson-Atkins and experienced some of the best service and Matcha latte art I have ever seen! They have multiple locations and have someone so talented that he can make a dragon out of your latte foam.. 😮 Other aesthetically pleasing spots include LULA's, Oddly Correct, and the hotel bar/restaurant in the Crossroads Hotel.

Looking for an after dinner cocktail? Fox and Pearl, The Mercury Room, Nighthawk, and Swordfish Tom's won't disappoint. Need some entertainment with your night cap? Check out the Green Lady Lounge, recordBar, Black Dolphin, or The Blue Room.
